Christmas is special holiday for Christians and it is celebrated annually. It symbolizes the birth of Jesus Christ and it is celebrated on every December 25. It is not really the exact date of Jesus’ real birthday, but it is just given as the Christian’s believed to be it is the month where Jesus’ must have to be born.
Christmas is also celebrated by non-Christians.
Persons, who are celebrating Christmas, designed their homes with Christmas decorations around their home days before the 25th. And on the Christmas day, people are giving away gifts to everybody as a celebration of kindness and peace. Others celebrated Christmas by having special meals on their home. Others display decorations on their home like putting Christmas trees, lights mistletoe, and holly and nativity scenes.
During this month, Santa Claus is being famous to children. Santa is believed to be in living in North Pole and he has a factory of toys with elves as his workers. He is believed to be riding in sleigh with reindeers as his way to fly. He is believed to go on different houses for good kids and give gifts by going into the chimney of different houses.
According to the pope, Pope John Paul II, on the 12th day before the Christmas the houses will be decorated along with that are the prayers for before the Christmas up to the 24th. The right removal of the decorations must be on the second week of January where it is the Feast of the Holy Family and the last day of Christmas.
In countries like the Philippines, the Christmas is celebrated by having masses during 3:00 a.m. And it is widely celebrated by all people even the Muslims. Hindus / Indian living in the Philippines have their group called the Seva foundation, are giving blankets, jackets and t-shirts every midnight for those who are living on the side walks. Even though they are not Christians, they wanted the less fortunate to feel the warmth of different people of different religion, the kindness and love that everybody could give. Their group is giving away these things along the Luneta in Manila.
For other countries, they are celebrating the Great Feast of Nativity during January 7. This is because they are using the Julian calendar.
